Silhouettes for Mother's Day

Silhouettes for Mother’s Day

Colossians 3:20  Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

  • Camera
  • Printer
  • Scissors
  • Colored paper
  • Glue Stick
  • Crayons or markers
  • Ink pad or finger paints

This is an old idea that will make the mothers of your students happy.  It takes a little work on your part, but the rewards are worth it.
Have the child stand sideways next to a blank wall.  The more contrast, the better this works.  Snap a photo and print it out on plain paper.  Just a black and white copy is all you need.  Trim off the outer edges, leaving only the outline of the child and a little extra.  Tape the picture to a piece of colored construction paper or card stock.  (I used black and white to be traditional, but any color will work.)  Cut around the outline of the child’s head and neck.  Carefully place the cutout on a contrasting piece of paper and glue it down.  Those who are older can do these last steps, but you will need to assist younger students.
Now, to let the child get creative have him or her draw flower stems and top it off with finger print flowers as a border.  It can be as simple as using single finger prints for tulips or more involved such as a cluster of prints in a circle for a daisy. You could have the students work on this while you are busy cutting out those silhouettes.

Does God Even See Me?

Proverbs 6:6  Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

Proverbs 6:7  Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,

Proverbs 6:8  Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

Proverbs 30:24  There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:

Proverbs 30:25  The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;

My family and I had decided to pack a picnic lunch and head off down to the creek one afternoon. It's the only place in the world we can all get away from society and just be ourselves. The kids were so excited and they couldn't wait to get down there. When we had finally arrived they took off with excitement, jumping around like little bucking bulls. I got out the vehicle and walked toward the water. I sure wasn't bucking like no bull and neither was my husband. lol  Your bones just don't want to run when you get older for some reason. Or at least ours don't. haha

As I stood there looking at my family, tears began to fill my eyes. I began to talk to God and tell him thank you for the moment to see all three of my kids laughing and playing in the water. I saw my husband sitting on a rock gazing and I just had to smile. In my silence I took notice of their presence and what a good time they were all having.  I thought I need to take a picture of everybody so on my way back up to the car to get my camera I noticed a large ant hill. I stooped down and looked closer. It was the only ant hill by the creek where we were at. I thought to myself, those little ants worked so hard to make this. I am sure there was other ant hills all around but I didn't see them. I only seen this one because these little ants were the only ones that decided to build right by the creek of where we were at. If they had built anywhere else I would not have seen them. I took notice of how large the anthill was. I took notice that they built it out of sand. I took notice that they decided to build it close along the running creek. I also noticed that I didn't see the ants, and I thought they might be off working doing something. I was taking notice of a lot of things.

Have you ever wondered, "Does God Even See Me?" Your family might be that ant hill that was planted right by the waters. Your family is the ones that is staying busy working constantly for God's kingdom. You know what? You might be the very family that God stops to look at. He is up close and personal. He is taking notice of your family. He is taking notice of you. You might feel like a tiny ant in this big old world and you wonder if God sees you or hears your prayers.

God does sees you. He sees you more than you realize. He is so close to you because you have chosen to build your house close to where he resides that he is watching you very close. He is taking notice of how hard you have worked and how much you really love him. He is proud of your efforts. He is touched by your hearts desires and by how much you love him. You are in his territory and he sees you. God has many blessings for his children. God told us in scripture to take notice of the little ants. They are so small but God say's they are very wise. They do what they are suppose to do all the time without God having to tell them what to do. They are hard workers. They build homes and provide food and plan ahead. We do not need to worry about if God is seeing us. If you love him and are busying working for him because you love him then do not think for one second that God does not see you or hear your prayers..

Your prayers may be ringing in his ears closer than you even realize.....

Lot's Wife Turned Into A Pillar Of Salt KJV Printout Sheet Gen 19:14-29

Genesis 19:14  And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

Genesis 19:15  And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

Genesis 19:16  And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

Genesis 19:17  And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

Genesis 19:18  And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:

Genesis 19:19  Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

Genesis 19:20  Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.

Genesis 19:21  And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.

Genesis 19:22  Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

Genesis 19:23  The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.

Genesis 19:24  Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;

Genesis 19:25  And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

Genesis 19:26  But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

Genesis 19:27  And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD:

Genesis 19:28  And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.

Genesis 19:29  And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.

Bible Wheel Of Fortune Game and Cake

Bible Wheel Of Fortune Game

Bible Wheel Of Fortune Spinner-printable version
Bible Wheel of Fortune Template for front of box-printable version
Tape
Decorative Scissors
Small Cardboard Box
Brown Spray Paint
2 Pieces of Red Construction paper
Brad-for your spinner
Laminator

Making the box is totally optional. You could always just skip that part and just print the template out and make a small spinner for the kids to use. I was actually going to do that until I got some remarks from my child that I need to make it better than that. Got to love your kids!!! So I went back to the drawing table and was trying to figure out what I could use. I decided to use a small cardboard box that we've had crammed next to the freezer forever because my lovely husband likes to cram things into every nook and cranny in this place. hee hee.
I went out to my husband's shop and rooted around for some spray paint. I began to notice that my children had gotten into all the spray paint and used it up. And even better, the spray nozzles were missing off of everyone of them. After some looking I finally found some brown spray paint. Out into the yard I went and sprayed the box. I just sprayed the front and top. I left the sides and back white. I let it dry for a little bit and then took it inside. I grabbed 2 pieces of red construction paper and taped it to the top and front of the box. I printed out the Bible Wheel of Fortune template for the front of the box and used decorative scissors to cut around it. I taped that on top of the red construction paper on the front of the box. Then I printed out the wheel spinner and cut it out. I laminated the wheel and the arrow. I put a brad through the arrow, wheel and box. I just used a push pin to make my hole first and then pushed the brad through it.
*If you are not able to laminate, then try gluing or taping the template to a round cutout piece of cardboard. You might want to make the spinner out of cardboard too if you go that route.
Pick out several scriptures from the Bible and write them on note cards so that way you have them. They will represent the different rounds.

If you have a large white marker board just write your dashes on the board for the scripture.

Split the kids into two teams. Then pick who will go first. Have the child spin the spinner. If it lands on a number then let them guess a letter. If the letter is part of the puzzle then write it on board on top of the blank. Let's say the spinner landed on $500 and they guessed an M and there was 3 M's in the puzzle then they would get $15,000.
If they guess a vowel then it will cost them $100 every time they want to use it. The team will continue to spin the wheel and guess the letters until they have missed one or solved the puzzle. When they missed one then it is the other teams turn. The game will continue on until the puzzle is solved. This is really good for kids to learn Bible verses or to review on lessons that you have previously taught.

You could make a Bible Wheel of Fortune cake too!

Bible Wheel of Fortune Cake

Small Round Cake Pan
Bible Wheel of Fortune Template
Toothpicks
White Frosting
Cake Mix
Laminator

Just bake a cake in a small round pan and let it cool down. Ice the cake in white frosting. Print the Bible Wheel of Fortune template off. Cut it out and laminate it. Lay the wheel down on top of the cake. Then take some toothpicks or you could use pretzel sticks and stick down in the edge of cake all around for the metal spikes. This is just an easy way to make this cake. If you really want to get all out there then you could attempt the real deal by piping all that mess on there. hahahah I thought I would skip on that for today. I was not up for that. I seen some pretty cool cakes that people made of these and they actually iced all of the wheel on top. I even seen one that actually spun. Once again I was not up for all that. You might want to take the cake out of the cake pan and finish icing the cake. I just left mine in the cake pan because I felt like it... :)
(In case if you haven't noticed, I really like my laminator I got from Wal-mart. I use it a lot throughout this website. I like to laminate everything!)

Make this for a fun snack for the kids at church. Play the Bible Wheel of Fortune Game with them to help them get excited about learning scriptures.

Mother's Day Matching Game

Mother's Day Medallion Flowers

Mother’s Day Medallion Flowers
Isa 66:13:  “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem."

  • Paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Crayons or markers
  • Craft stick or bamboo skewers

You can use colored paper or if you have time use white paper and let the children color.  From one sheet of paper, cut as many 2 inch circles as you need.  It takes two circles for each medallion. Have the children draw a picture of the person that will receive the medallion on one circle.  On the other circle write the words, ‘Jesus and I love you.’
Take another sheet of paper and fold it in half the long way.  Fold it in half the long way again so you have four long sections.  Cut the paper apart along the folds.  One sheet makes four medallions.  For each medallion, make accordion folds in one strip.  Cut half inch slits along the edge in the crease of each fold.  Bring the short ends together and glue the edges.  Gently flatten the medallion.  This took some practice, but you will get it.  Using plenty of glue, stick one circle in the center of the medallion on one side.  Hold it down a few seconds to be sure it sticks well.  Turn the medallion over.  Depending on the age of the child, layer a craft stick or a bamboo skewer between the medallion and the other circle.  Once again use plenty of glue.
Tell the children to give the medallion to their mother or a woman they love with a big hug.
Optional:  Fold the fringed edge back and forth to make it more three dimensional.  Use craft foam for the circles.  Add a little glitter to make it sparkle. Add a two inch circle punch to your wish list.

Are You Getting The Message Across?

Have you ever felt bogged down to get to many things across to the kids that you are teaching? You may feel like you have to pound every single entire thing into their heads with scriptures from the Bible, but are you getting the message of Jesus across to them? The main purpose of your mission in teaching is that they learn something of course, but at the end of the hour when they walk away from your class do they know who Jesus is? Do they know that Jesus died on the cross for their sins. Do they know that He is the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

Our main goal in life is to teach children that they have a savior. His name is Jesus. We are called to help save lost souls. Yes we need to teach all the Bible stories to these kids and it would be good for them to know every single thing in the Bible, but the most important thing in life they could ever need is their soul saved by Jesus. They need to have a personal relationship with God. They need his friendship. When you teach them this, everything else in their lives will fall into place. They will then desire to read his word, and pray and learn more.

If you have a child that visits one time and you are teaching on Noah's ark, the child may learn a very good lesson on God making a promise that he will no longer flood the earth. But they also need to know that before they walk out of that room that they need Jesus to save their soul. We have to get the message of salvation across to every child that comes through. We are accountable to God for our job that we are doing. Are you teaching these children the word of God the way you need to be. Or are you just throwing something together to barely get by. These kids may not know, but God knows.

The message of salvation needs to come across to them every single time we teach. We have to remember that we are there for a purpose. We are on a mission to be a shining light into this dark world. You never know what life you may touch through your words or your teaching.

I got saved when I was child. I was about 7 years old I think. I will never forget that pastor and how he did an alter call every time service was over. I could actually feel the Lord pulling me and I had a strong desire to be saved. I wanted to be saved so bad I couldn't stand it. God was tugging at my heart so strongly. He knew the road that was up ahead for me and how I needed him. I may have strayed out there as a teenager, but I have always loved God. I know the Bible say's in Luke 6:46  And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? But even when I was strayed away into sin when I was younger, I loved God. I would talk to him all the time. I may have done a lot of things in my life that was not good and got into some trouble but I always loved Jesus.  My love for God has always been there. I love him so much. He has been so good to me and has protected me all my life. This scripture is coming to me right now on Matthew 21:31. Jesus said the publicans and harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. Man looks on the outward appearance but God looks upon our hearts. I have always had a heart for God. ALWAYS!!!! I may have messed up at times, but we all have. That is why we need a savior.

So let's make sure we are getting the message across to the kids. They are going to need Jesus living and dwelling in them in order to make it in this world. I am so glad I had an opportunity, as a child, to go to a little old church down the road where I lived that showed me that I could call upon that sweet name of Jesus, and that he would come in and live in my heart. He would make me new and wash me in his blood. I went to many different churches as a child, and I never felt the pulling at my heart or the message of Salvation. That is really sad. How many churches will our children go to and they will never hear that they can be saved or call upon the name of Jesus. Anyone can call upon the name of the Lord. Anyone can be saved. Romans 10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

God wants to KNOW YOU. He just wants you to accept him and be his friend. I can understand the scripture from Matthew 7:22, where it say's that many will say in that day, Lord, Lord have we not prophesied in your name? Have we not cast out devils? And in your name done many wonderful works? And He will tell them, DEPART FROM ME You workers of inquity I never KNEW you. They will also say, "But we have ate and drank in your presence Lord! (Luke 13:27) but God rebukes them.

God wants a heart after him. You can lead worship service, teach Sunday school, raise money to help with Church buildings, pray and rebuke demons out of sinners, prophecy in the Lord's name, and still not make it to Heaven. God wants a relationship with his children. He wants someone that really loves him. Not someone who is going through the motions.

God knows if your taking job as a youth leader seriously or not. You better be careful. He knows everything. We want to be everything God wants us to be. We need to want to do it because we care about the children, and that we desire to see souls saved. If you don't feel this way then how in the world can you expect your message of Christ to get across to them. If you are not feeling the love of God in your own life, how can you tell the kids about it.

So next time you are teaching your class in Sunday school or Children's church, or whatever it is that deals with the youth, make sure they know that there is a Jesus that loves them very much. Make sure they know that they can call on the name of Jesus to be saved. You don't have to have permission to a get a child saved. God will be the only one to answer to when you die. God will not ask you, "Did you ask the pastor first before you got one of my children saved?" Of course NOT! Do not be silly. God's will is that none perish but that all will come to him. (Matthew 18:14  Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.) Do not get caught up in details that will not make any difference to God on judgement day. He will see your heart and your works, and reward you for what you have done.

One more thing....spend time with Jesus today.....so you can GET THE MESSAGE ACROSS!

And one more thing...for you that just read this- Jesus loves you....
