Gideon Template

Gideon Template

Judges 7:15  And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.

Judges 7:16  And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers.

Judges 7:17  And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do.

Judges 7:18  When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.

Judges 7:19  So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands.

Judges 7:20  And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.

Judges 7:21  And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled.

This is a Gideon template that can be used for many different things. Have the kids color each picture and cut them out and glue to a paper plate with the middle cut out. This will make a Gideon wreath.
You can use these for cupcake toppers by taping a toothpick or popsicle stick to the back of each picture and then stick it down in the cupcake. You could always laminate these if you want to keep them and use them again for another time down the road.
You could do popsicle stick puppets for younger children. Just have them color it first and then let them tape a large popsicle stick to the back.

Acts 13:1  Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

Acts 13:2  As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

Acts 13:3  And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

Acts 13:4  So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

Acts 13:5  And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.

Acts 13:6  And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:

Acts 13:7  Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

Acts 13:8  But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

Acts 13:9  Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,

Acts 13:10  And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

Acts 13:11  And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

Acts 13:12  Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

Acts 9:36  Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.

Acts 9:37  And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.

Acts 9:38  And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.

Acts 9:39  Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

Acts 9:40  But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

Acts 9:41  And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

Paper Plate Salt Art

Paper Plate Salt Art

Mark 9:50  Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.
  • Elmer’s glue
  • Food coloring
  • Paint brushes
  • Pencil
  • Salt
  • Unwaxed paper plates
  • Zip lock baggies

Pour half a cup of salt into four different baggies.  Put a few drops of one color of food coloring in the first bag.  Seal the baggie and gently shake to mix the coloring throughout the salt.  Repeat the process with a different color in the other three bags.

Give each child a paper plate and a pencil.  Have them draw a picture that has large open spaces.

Thin the glue with a little water.  Have the child paint all the spaces that will be the same color with glue.  Let the glue dry for a minute.  Sprinkle on the first color of salt.  After a couple of minutes shake off the excess into a trash container.  Now, you are ready to do the next color.  Repeat the process until the picture is done.

For those students who need a little help with the drawing, you could have some shapes available for them to trace.

Epson Salt Crafts

 Epson Salt Crafts
  • Small jar
  • Used fabric softener sheets
  • Aluminum pie pan
  • Scissors
  • Bamboo skewers
So, you have finished your keepsake jar and salt pictures.  Now, what to do with the left over salt? Try adding putting some of the salt in a small jar and adding hot water.  Wait a few days to see what crystals form.

A lot of people are fascinated with crystals, many believing them to possess power that can be used for healing and spiritual growth.  Is it okay to be actively involved with crystal healing and crystal power? What advice does the Bible give in this matter?  Crystals certainly are beautiful objects, for they were created by God. Part of God's magnificent heavenly city, the New Jerusalem, will be constructed from crystal. But, like all so called magic, the ability of crystals to heal is false.  Satan wants us to believe in false miracles. All true miracles come from God.

Revelation 22:1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

After removing the crystals, a second thing to do with the salts is to pour out the remaining salt water onto a used fabric softener sheet that has been placed in an aluminum pie pan.  Let it dry for a few days.  Tiny crystals will form on the surface.  Cut the softener sheet in various shapes and string it onto a bamboo skewer.  Use it as a plant stake to make an artificial plant give off a wonderful smell like a real plant.

Crystal Keepsake Jar For Father's Day

Crystal keepsake Jar
for Father’s Day
  • Glass jar
  • Elmer’s glue
  • Small sponge brush
  • Food coloring
  • Aluminum pie pan or paper plate
  • Epson salt
  • Colored Paper

Before you begin, add a few drops of food coloring to a half cup of Epson salt in a zip lock baggie. Carefully shake to color the salt. Let the salt set and dry for two to three hours.  It will get a little clumpy but that is what you want.  Pour some of the dry salt into an aluminum pie pan or onto a paper plate.
Thin the Elmer’s glue with one part water to one part glue.  (Or buy a bottle of Mod Podge)  Brush the glass jar with the glue mixture where you want to salt to stick.  Let the glue dry for a couple of minutes so it is tacky.  Roll the jar in the salt or sprinkle it over the glue.    Be sure to do this over a container that can catch the excess salt. Optional: We did the word DAD in white first and let it dry before adding the colored salt to the remainder of the jar.
Trace the lid of the jar onto a piece of colored paper.  Write the words, “Dad, you are the salt of the earth” on the paper.  Cut it out and glue it to the lid.

Salt of the Earth Lesson

Matthew 5:13  Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Why would the Bible compare people to salt?  In the days when there was no refrigeration, salt was very important.  In addition to making the food taste better, it kept it from spoiling.  We still use salt to improve the flavor of food and to preserve some foods such as pickles and jerky.  Salt can come from the sea or it can be mined from the ground in some places.  If the salt is not separated from the dirt and other things that are mixed with it, it is not any good.  Not only is it not good to use, if it is thrown on the ground, nothing will grow there.
So, how are we like salt?  By the way we act; we make life better for those around us.  By doing good works and sharing the gospel, we can lead others to knowing Christ.  But, if we mix that up with doing bad things, people will no longer trust us.  They will stop listening to us when we tell them about Jesus.  We are no longer helping anyone grow in Christ.
Make homemade popcorn. (Not microwave popcorn) Give each child one snack bag that has been salted and one that has not been salted.  Do not tell the children which bag has the salt.  Ask them if they can tell the difference.
Display a bag of salted popcorn that has some dirt mixed in it.  Ask if they think anyone would enjoy eating the dirty popcorn.  Most will say no.  Ask why they would not eat it when there is good popcorn in there.  Hopefully they will realize that good things are ruined when they are mixed in with bad things.

Luke 15:11  And he said, A certain man had two sons:

Luke 15:12  And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

Luke 15:13  And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

Luke 15:14  And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

Luke 15:15  And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

Luke 15:16  And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

Luke 15:17  And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

Luke 15:18  I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

Luke 15:19  And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

Luke 15:20  And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

Luke 15:21  And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

Luke 15:22  But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

Luke 15:23  And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

Luke 15:24  For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

Luke 15:25  Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.

Luke 15:26  And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.

Luke 15:27  And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.

Luke 15:28  And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.

Luke 15:29  And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

Luke 15:30  But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.

Luke 15:31  And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.

Luke 15:32  It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
