Prodigal Son Plane Craft
Loop de Loop Plane
Luke 15: 20- And he arose and came to his father. But, when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. This project takes a sheet of plain or colored typing paper, scissors, a pencil and scissors. Fold the paper in half so the short edges are together. Open it up and bring the top corners of one long edge together at the crease. (See picture.) Fold the point that was formed at the top downward. Fold the paper in half so the point is to the inside.
Along the bottom edge, draw the shape of an airplane tail. Be sure not to draw on a folded edge. (See picture.) Cut out the tail section. Fold the center up so you have a section to hold. Staple the plane together along that section. Fold the wings and tail down so they are horizontal to the ground. Decorate your plane. Launch the plane gently. It should fly in a loop. Be sure not to throw it at another person for safety.
This airplane is fun because it comes back to you. In the Bible, there was great rejoicing when the prodigal son returned to his family. Even if we stray, God rejoices when we return to Him. God waits patiently, with loving kindness to restore us when we return to him with humble hearts. He offers us everything in his kingdom and does not even dwell on our past disobedience. God will run to meet you if you turn to Him.

Ideas for Bulletin Boards
We have a 4 X 12 bulletin board in our room. I decided to split the bulletin board and make two separate halves. I used the left side to put up my theme and the right side to hang the children's artwork papers. I plan on hanging up some photos that I took of them while they were working in class. I was going to add little word bubbles above their heads and have them saying some funny things.
This picture is the 10 commandments that I bought from a christian store. They have lot's of different themes to choose from and I decided this would be a good one to go with.
This picture is of the children's artwork they have done in class. I wanted to post their work so they could be the shining stars of the bulletin board.
I got a close up picture so you could see what they did. We have the Ice Cream Lesson that we covered and they made the little Ice Cream Cone Picture Frame and glued large popsicle sticks around the picture to frame it. The Mother's Day Flower Cut Out Picture was the Mother's Day Lesson and the Cross was from the Easter Lesson. The kids love to see their artwork displayed.
We will post more ideas as time goes on and I get them changed out.
Constellation Cans Craft
Constellation Cans Craft
Genesis 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
Genesis 1:17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth...
- One Pringles can per child
- Black construction paper
- Glue
- Small bright flashlight that will fit in the Pringles can
- Large pin such as used for corsage.
- Paper to cover can.
- Optional decorations such as glow in the dark stickers
Cover the outside of a Pringles can with paper and decorate as desired. The children can write Bible verses or glue on a printed verse. Trace the plastic lid and cut out the circle from the black construction paper. Glue it to the inside of the plastic lid of the Pringles can. Using a star map, select a constellation and cut it out. Tape it to the top of the plastic lid for a pattern. Poke holes through the plastic lid and black paper at the position of each star. Turn the flashlight on and place it in the can so the light shines through the holes when the lid is placed on the can. Darken the room and hold the can so the stars shine on the wall or ceiling. Let each child make a different constellation so the children can take turns sharing their results.
(You can paint the plastic lids with black paint ahead of time instead of using the construction paper.)
Here is a source for a star map.
Father's Day Craft-Paper Plate Turtle
Father's Day Craft
Paper Plate Turtle
"Dad, I didn't SHELL out much this Father's day, but I still love you!"
- two uncoated
- paper plates
- crayons
- tape
- scissors
- a sheet of construction paper
- optional google eyes for head
Divide the bottom side of an uncoated paper plate into squares or hexagons with a crayon. Color each square. Cut out a head, a tail, and four legs from construction paper. Tape these to the top of a second paper plate. Glue the two plates together so the tops of each plate are to the inside.
Place a baggy with a treat (cookies, candy, nuts, etc.) for dad between the plates before gluing together the plates. Children who are old enough can write a thank you note to their fathers on the bottom. It can say something like: "Dad I didn't SHELL out much for Father's Day but I still love you."

Talk Bubble Scripture Activity Page
Print this Talk bubble scripture activity page out for the kids. Have the kids open up their Bible and write down scriptures they like in the talk bubbles. You could have them color the bubbles first with a very light color and then write the scriptures in them.
You could also make them into bookmarks. Just color and write the scriptures in the bubbles and then laminate them. Cut each bubble out and using a hole punch add a hole in the bottom. Run some yarn through the hole and tie in a knot. The kids can use the bookmarks for their Bibles.

Let Your Light Shine Lantern
Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Supplies:
- Card stock
- scissors
- glue or tape
- markers
- stickers
- etc.
Cut a one-inch strip off the 8 ½ inch long edge for the handle. Fold the piece of card stock in half along the long edge. Cut evenly spaced slashes along the folded edge (Cut through both layers) leaving about 1 inch uncut on the open edges. Decorate with stickers, markers, etc. Open the paper up and then roll it into a tube lengthwise so the slashes run up and down. Glue or tape the edges of the paper together. Press down on the top of the lantern so it bulges out a little in the center. Attach the one inch strip to the top of your lantern for a handle.
