Fall Bulletin Board Idea

Trace the child's hand with fingers spread wide and up his arm as far as the paper will allow. This will be the trunk and branches of the trees.  Write each child's name on their tree trunk and cut it out of brown construction paper or a brown paper bag.

Cut out a few leaves and lots of apples.  Put the tree trunks on the bulletin board.  Add a few leaves around the branches.

When the child does something good, add an apple to his or her tree.

For example, everyone who comes to Sunday school gets to add an apple.  If the child cleans up her or his place, add an apple.  Sharing, saying thank you, helping someone, etc.  can also earn apples.  Two apples for bringing a friend!

Consider giving a small prize such as a package of stickers for those who earn a set number of apples for the month depending on the age group.

The caption of the bulletin board would say, Branching Out For Jesus. (Matthew 25 :40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.)

3-D Bee Craft

3-D Bee Craft

Colossians 3:23  (KJV) And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

Bees live in groups called bee colonies.  Each worker bee works very hard to produce just a few drops of honey.  To keep the bee colony alive, the bees must work together with cooperation.  It is very important that each bee does his part.  It is the same way with families and churches.

  • Yellow card stock (Or white paper colored yellow)
  • Pencil or marker
  • Scissors
  • Black pipe stem cleaners
  • Hole Punch
  • Wax paper

Cut a strip of paper about two inches wide across the narrow end of the paper.  Accordion- fold the paper so you have five or six layers.  Sketch the body of a bee of the bottom of the body is on the bottom folds and the top of the head is on the top folds. (like paper dolls) You can find a clip art picture of a bee to go by or just free hand it.  Basically, for the body draw a rectangle that is rounded on one end and that is more pointed on the other end for the tail.  Draw a circle that slightly overlaps the rounded end and is a little above the body for the head.  We are not going to worry about drawing wings.  Cut out your bee, but do not cut where the head and body touch the folds.  Punch a hole just behind the head through all layers.  Draw in some stripes on the body and give the bee a face.  Next, cut another rectangle out of wax paper.  It would be about as long as the bee’s body.  Round off the ends and fold the wax paper accordion style. Slide the wax paper through the holes you punched, bend upward and spread the wax paper out to make the wings.  Cut a short piece of the black pipe stem cleaner.  Bend it in half and insert it inside the folds of the head to make the antennae.
These should stand up on a table or they can be hung with string to fly from the ceiling.  You can make these any size or color and as fancy as you please.

Snack:  Anything with honey such as honey nut cheerios.

Try this.  Dip a peeled banana in lemon juice or fruit fresh to prevent it from turning brown.  Mix peanut butter and honey and spread it on a whole wheat flour tortilla.  Place the banana toward one edge and roll up the tortilla.  Let the roll ups set in the refrigerator for about an hour.  Just before serving, slice into one inch sections and serve.  One banana will make six to eight slices depending on the banana.  Be sure to check if any child has peanut allergies.  If so, eliminate the peanut butter.

Heaven’s Helpers

Matthew 25:44  Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

Matthew 25:45  Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

God wants us to help each other.  Jesus said that when you help someone else, it is the same as helping Him. When you are small, it may seem like there are not many ways you can help someone.  Today, we are going to talk about things you can do to help at home, at church and at school.  I am going to name some things that children can do to help.  Raise one hand if you think that is something you can do. Raise two hands if you have done that in the past.

  • Pick up your toys and put them away.
  • Wipe the baseboards with a dust cloth.
  • Put dirty clothes in a hamper.
  • Match socks.
  • Fold wash cloths.
  • Put trash in a wastebasket.
  • Put silverware on the table.
  • Put clean silverware away in a drawer.
  • Wipe the windowsills with a dust cloth.
  • Take trash out of the car and throw it away.
  • Wipe the table.
  • Carry dirty dishes to the sink.
  • Erase the board at school.
  • Help pass out papers.
  • Hand out the bulletins at church.
  • Move chairs so someone can sweep.

Ask the children to name any other jobs they have done.  Remember that Jesus died for us and He did not ask for payment.  He did it out of love for us, so we could have a better life and live with Him in Heaven someday.  We should do for others out of love. Doesn’t it feel good to be one of God’s heavenly helpers?

Galatians 6:9 (KJV) 9  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

James 4: 17 17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

The Three Little Pigs And The Big Bad Wolf Craft and Lesson

The Three Little Pigs Craft
"I Build My House Of Bricks"

Psalms 71:3  Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
  • Water Bottle
  • 1 Pink Construction Paper
  • 2 Goggle Eyes
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Decorative Cutting Scissors
  • Wooden Clothespin
  • 1 White Paper
  • Red Pen or Black Pen (to write words on paper)
Have the kids take their scissors and cut the pink construction paper to fit the water bottle. Then have them wrap the pink paper around the water bottle and tape it in the back. Tape some goggle eyes to the front. Cut out two triangles for ears and then fold the bottom of the triangle backwards and add some tape to the bottom of the ear. Tape both ears on. Cut two tiny pink circles out and tape to the top of the lid for the pig's nose holes. Then have the kids take the white piece of paper and write down the words, "I Build My House Of Bricks." Psalms 71:3-.....for thou art my ROCK. Then have the child use the decorative cutting scissors and cut it out. Have them cut out a slightly larger piece of pink paper using the same decorative cutting scissors and tape behind the white paper. Then tape the paper onto the wooden clothespin. Have the child prop the sign next to their piggy. You could also add a curly pink tail by cutting out a small tail from the construction paper and taping it on or you could use pink pipe cleaner and attach it. You could also turn this craft into a little piggy bank. Just use a knife and cut a slit in the top of the bottle for the children. You could also give him little feet if you wanted to. You could make pig feet using other soda lids and tape them on. This pig craft goes with "The Three Little Pigs And The Big Bad Wolf Lesson".

 The Three Little Pigs
And The Big Bad Wolf Lesson
We should really take a look at the children's story on the "Three Little Pigs And The Big Bad Wolf.". I am sure you have heard of it before. If not then just watch the video above.
There are three little pigs and each one built a house. The first pig built his house out of straw, the second pig built his house out of sticks and the third pig built his house out of bricks.
The first two little pigs didn't put much time or effort into building their house. They hurried through the making process and cut corners. The last pig worked harder and stayed at it longer than the other two.
When the wolf comes lurking around the corner he tries to blow the first house down that was made out of straw and of course he succeeds. The two little pigs run inside and try to hide in the second pigs house which was built of sticks. Notice how the wolf comes dressed as a sheep the second time! (Wolf in sheeps clothing- Mat 7:15  Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Mat 10:16  Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. Act 20:29  For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. )
We need to have our eyes open to the enemy that pretends to be something they are not. Wolves are sent in to to destroy. They are not sent there for any other reason. A wolf is a wolf. A sheep is a sheep. A sheep can be lost, and then found by the shepherd, but a wolf was born a wolf and will never become a sheep. We have to have understanding on this. He that has ears to hear...let him hear.... A wolf was born a wolf and will die a wolf. The shepherd does not convert wolves and bring them into the sheep fold. The wolf will kill, steal, and destroy the sheep fold. (John 10:10  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.) The shepherd is there to protect the sheep. We are the sheep. You will never read in the scriptures that Jesus went to the wolves to bring them in and save them.... He went to the lost sheep.....  The shepherd protects the sheep..That is why he is there. If a wolf comes in, it would kill the sheep. The shepherd can not allow that. The shepherd will kill the wolf in order to save his sheep fold. That is what the shepherd does. He looks out for the sheep. He loves his sheep. He cares for them.
Notice how the last little pig worked long hours and put in a lot of time to build his house. He took notice of how the other two little pigs had spare time to go play and goof off but he knew that he had to keep going and working when everyone else was doing their own thing. This pig knew that the wolf could destroy. This pig knew the key to protecting his home was to build it out of bricks or stone like he said. When your home is founded on the rock (Jesus) the wolf can not blow your house down...
(Psalms 31:3  For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.
Psalms 62:2  He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.
Psa 71:3  Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
Psa 78:35  And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.
Psa 89:26  He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
Psa 92:15  To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
Luk 6:48  He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
So we find that the other two pigs lost their homes from the wolf and then ran to the last pig that built his house from brick. The were in fear and scared and hid under the bed. The little pig that built his house in bricks was confident his house would stand against the wolf. That is where your faith kicks in! We have to be confident in God. If we do what we are suppose to do and listen to the Lord on what he is telling us then rest assured he will take care of you. The wolf thought he would pull a fast one and tried to enter the home through another way. Instead of breaking down the door he crept on top of the house to go down the chimney. He tried to use another way of entry. The wolf didn't expect to find a fire lit and water boiling below him. He got himself into some hot water! The wolf took off out of there and didn't come back. (James 4:7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.)
The wolf learned not to mess with this one little's pig's house. Dangerous things happen to wolves when they try to come against the house that is built out of bricks or stone! (Rom 12:18  If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Rom 12:19  Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.)
John 17:9  I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
Jer 14:11  Then said the LORD unto me, Pray not for this people for their good.
Three Little Pigs and the big bad wolf
Mat 5:44  But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

God wants you to have a clean and pure heart....Let the Lord fight the battle for you. Don't go get yourself in trouble. God is very mighty and powerful. He can do anything. God can do things that you can not do. Just build your house upon the rock and God will make sure it stands! Always LISTEN to what God is telling you...You will never go wrong when you heed to him. He will let you know exactly what to do and when to do it. Just obey... If God tells you to pray, then pray...If He tells you to be still, then be still...If He say's Go Forward, then go forward. He WILL SPEAK TO YOU. Just listen.....

Buy some canned biscuits and use some pinched dough to form noses and ears. Two triangles for the ears and a round circle for the nose. Put two small slits in the nose with a knife. After they are done cooking add two eyes using whatever you want. You could use mustard seed or even use some cream cheese that has been colored black. Just dot on the two eyes using a piping bag. You could always use tiny round cut outs of pepperoni for the eyes or even cheese. Or come up with your own idea for the eyes.
