✂️ Craft

Paper Plate Flower for Mom

Create a bright and happy flower to give to Mom for Mother’s Day! This simple craft is perfect for preschoolers and lets kids make something special using their own hands.

🧰 Supplies

Paper plate
Yellow crayon or marker
Black marker
2 googly eyes (same size)
Green construction paper (for stem and leaves)
Tape or glue
Brown paper (for the ground)
Scissors

πŸ“ Directions

  1. Color the inside of the paper plate yellow to make your flower. Encourage kids to color in circles to give it a soft, sunny look.
  2. Glue two googly eyes onto the center of the plate. Make sure they are even so your flower looks nice and happy.
  3. Use a black marker to draw a big smile on your flower.
  4. Cut out a long strip of green paper for the stem and two leaf shapes.
  5. Attach the stem to the back of the paper plate using tape or glue.
  6. Tape or glue the leaves to the back of the plate so they stick out from the sides.
  7. Crumple up brown paper and place it at the bottom to look like dirt or ground. Set your flower on top of it or attach it if desired.

πŸ’– A Sweet Mother’s Day Message

This happy little flower is a special gift made just for Mom!

Just like this flower grows strong and bright, your mom helps you grow every day with love and care. You can give this flower to your mom to say, “I love you,” “Thank you,” and “You are special to me.”

Moms do so many kind things, and this is a sweet way to show how much you care.

πŸ’‘ Teacher Tip

Play the matching “I Love You, Mom” song in the background while kids make their craft to create a fun and meaningful experience they will remember.

🌼 Georgie the Yellow Flower Story

Georgie was a bright yellow flower who loved his mom very, very much.

Every day, Georgie noticed all the things his mom did for him. She made him breakfast in the morning, lunch in the afternoon, and dinner at night. She washed his dishes and cleaned up when he made a mess.

Sometimes Georgie would get a little boo-boo, and his mom would gently help him feel better. She always took such good care of him.

One day, Georgie thought,
“My mom does so much for me. I love her so much!”

Then he had an idea.

It was Mother’s Day!

“I want to do something nice for my mom!” Georgie said.

So that morning, Georgie made his mom breakfast. He worked very carefully and tried his best. His mom smiled so big when she saw it.

That night, Georgie made her cookies. They weren’t perfect, but they were made with love.

Georgie gave his mom a big hug and said,
“I love you, Mom!”

His mom felt so happy inside.

Georgie learned that it’s important to show love and kindness to your mom.

And God loves it when we are kind to our moms and show them how much we care.

πŸ’¬ Let’s Talk About It

1. What did Georgie’s mom do for him every day?
πŸ‘‰ She made his meals, helped him when he got hurt, and took care of him.

2. How did Georgie show love to his mom?
πŸ‘‰ He made her breakfast, baked cookies, gave her a hug, and said “I love you.”

3. What can you do to show love to your mom?
πŸ‘‰ You can give hugs, say thank you, help clean up, and be kind.

πŸ™Œ Repeat After Me

Teacher says:
“I love my mom!”
Kids repeat:
“I love my mom!”

Teacher says:
“I can be kind!”
Kids repeat:
“I can be kind!”

Teacher says:
“I can say thank you!”
Kids repeat:
“I can say thank you!”

Teacher says:
“God wants me to love my mom!”
Kids repeat:
“God wants me to love my mom!”

πŸ™ Closing Prayer (Repeat After Me)

Dear God,
Thank you for my mom
Thank you for her love
Help me be kind
Help me say thank you
Help me show love every day
Amen

πŸ’¬ What to Say to the Child

If you don’t have a mom at home, you can make your gift for someone special who loves and cares for you—like a grandma, aunt, or teacher. You are loved very much.
