Christmas Candy Cane Rabbit Sock Craft

"Christmas Candy Cane Rabbit Sock Craft"

  • 1 Child's Sock
  • Green Felt
  • 2 Blue Eyes (I used pronged jewels)
  • 1 Gold Nose (I used a pronged gold jewel)
  • 1 Candy Cane
  • 1 Christmas necklace with gold jingle bell
  • 7 Rubber Bands
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Rice (For filler)

Start by taking your sock and filling it up with rice. You will need to make two small feet and tie them off with a rubber band. Then add some more rice and tie off your arms next. Then tie off above the arms for the body. This might be a little difficult the first time you try this when you are trying to tie the little arms and legs off. You will get the hang of it after a few tries. Then add some more rice for the head and tie that off. You should have some remaining sock sticking up after this. Take your scissors and make a straight cut down the middle for ears. You will want to cut them in the shape of a leaf. I made a little hat and shirt out of felt. I do not have a patten and I just cut slits in the felt and slipped it over the rabbits arms and and hot glued the back. I did the same with the hat. I cut a strip of felt that looked like it would cover his head and put two small slits for his ears to go through. I just hot glued that in the back. I added his jewel eyes and nose and gave him a jingle bell necklace. I stuck a candy cane through the necklace. You could hot glue all that down if you want. Let your child make their own and cut little clothes out for their sock doll. My child helped make this one. Tons of fun!

Snowman Decorations and Paper Snowflakes

Snowman Decorations For The Tree &
Paper Snowflakes

I bought some snowman faces from a store and had the kids write the scripture from Isaiah 1:18 down on it. Then the kids punched a hole in the top and run some yarn through it and tied in a knot. They hung it on the Christmas tree in our Children's Church room. They made paper snowflakes too and added some glitter all over them. I had them write the scripture on those too.

There is a little cat and dog on a rug. Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus are under the word Jesus. I added black letters that say, "Merry Christmas Jesus" to the middle of the board. I hung peppermints and candy cane swirl decorations from the ceiling.

I bought a snowman set from a store that sells bulletin board stuff and and just added the words, "He will wash you white as snow" in black letters. I added snowflakes all over.

The Nativity Scene has Mary and Joseph and Baby Jesus in the middle. It also came with the wise men and another Mary with Jesus as a toddler. I added them at the bottom right side. I added candy canes and peppermint candies all over the board.

Christmas Decorating Ideas For The House

Try adding some fake fluffy snow cotton to your coffee tables and then sprinkle them with decorations. I added a gingerbread lane set to mine. Sometimes I would add Christmas lights under the snow and plug them in. This makes it look really pretty. I would also lay small flat sparkly snowflake decorations all over the snow. And some beaded garland all over. Add sparkly floral picks as well.
Decorating a Christmas tree can be lots of fun. My child actually decorated this one. Lot's of blue flower picks stuck in the tree. Sparkly balls, Swirled Candy, and very large snowflakes. We also hung the large snowflakes from the ceiling using a screwed in hook. This is acutally on a beam on the ceiling and not in the actual ceiling. String lights across the curtain rods and add some Christmas Tinsel Garland that swags over it. You can add small battery operated candles in the window.

I needed a stocking hanger really bad and did not have one. Then it came to me to use the towel hanger out of the bathroom to hang the stockings on. This worked perfect. You could even dress it up some and add some pretty tinsel garlend to hide the metal if you want.

Decorate your kitchen table too! Add a christmas wreath and sit a christmas cookie jar down in the middle of it. I used my Gingerbread house. Then I put a Christmas candy dish in the front of it. Fill it up with some candy for the kids. I have some red snowmen placemats, a tall white beaded tinsel tree made of metal on the left and a small green battery powered light up tree on the right. Then there are two small gingerbread bowls that the lids come off of on each side. Get creative and use your own Christmas stuff that you have to make your table really stand out. Add a family picture in the front instead of the candy dish and make it more personal.

Give your small coffee tables or lamp stands a lit up wreath that lays down on it. This will give some holiday cheer. Add some Christmas music by plugging a small cd player in behind your Christmas tree.

Put a Nativity set with deer and angels around it on your coffee tables or buffets. We are celebrating the birth of Jesus at Christmas time so we can NOT leave him out. That is what Christmas is all about. THE BIRTH OF JESUS!

I have a plug in angel that glows and glitters and I stuck that in my kitchen on my counter top.

If you have green bushes in your house or fake trees then add garland to them and hang Christmas balls all over them. String some lights on them too!

Put a better homes scented candle on the stove on low heat and warm it up to make the house smell good. This really puts others in the Christmas mood when they come into house filled with the smells of Candied Carmel Pecan. I really like the Paula Dean Baked French Toast and Vanilla Buttercream candle. I put those on the small plug in candle warmer that I have.

Don't have a candle? Well make your own smell good scent to fill the house while your decorating for Christmas. Just get a small saucepan out and add some water to the pan. It don't matter how much water you use. Use however much you want. You can fill it half way up. Then sprinkle some cinnamon. Add some cloves if you want. Heat at medium heat and this will fill the WHOLE house with the smell. It's smells awesome!

Some people don't like the smell of cinnamon so you could use something else. You could use lemon slices, orange peels, oil fragrances like French Vanilla or apple. These are just a few ideas you can use.

Make a gingerbread house! Or let the kids make one. Make your own or buy a kit from Wal-Mart. I have always enjoyed making gingerbread houses. They are so much fun!

Here is a picture of one that I made a long time ago. This took me awhile to put this together. It has a peanut chimney in the back and it looked really neat. Two cute snowmen and a reindeer with a scarf on. A paved M&M walkway and Ice Cream Cone trees. I added a little pretzel fence with red ribbon strung through it. Want to make this same one? I have the directions on my other website. CHRISTMAS GINGERBREAD HOUSE

Snowman Snacks for Church

Snowman Snacks for Kids

Just grab you some white donut holes and add a candy corn in the middle for the nose and two raisins for the eyes. If you want you could use chocolate chips or colored m&m's for the eyes if your kids don't like raisins. I added a notecard and wrote the scripture Isaiah 1:18 out on the card that said, "Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow". You could give the snowman a smile by adding tiny chocolate chips and attaching them by using frosting. This is just a fun snack for the kids.

Snowman Cheeseball

Snowman Cheese Ball

I made this snowman cheeseball for the kids for an after school snack. You can make one of these and take for a Church dinner, Children's Church, Sunday school or anything else. I took a green note card and wrote the scripture from Isaiah 1:18....though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow. This will be the easiest snack you can make for kids.

I cheated and bought the cheeseballs already made but you can always make yours from scratch. I bought 2 different kinds of cheeseballs. One was sharp cheddar and the other cheddar ranch.

Take them out of the package and assemble onto a plate like a snowman. One for the head and one for the body. You could buy three cheese balls if you wanted and make a bigger snowman.

Next your going to take a butter knife and smear some cream cheese spread all over the cheeseballs to make it look like snow. When you get done covering both cheeseballs then you can take your butter knife and make small circular swirls in the cream cheese all over. This will make it look more like snow. Otherwise you will have a really smoothed over snowman. I gave him some texture. :)
Here is the snowman with it all covered in cream cheese snow.

Next give your little snowman some stick arms. You just need 2 stick pretzels. Poke them through the sides of the snowman. (You could give him some mittens if you wanted by adding gum drops or you could use olives or even cranberries that are dried.)
The snowman has grew eyes now! I bought a jar of halved olives and added two of those to give him sight. I then added a raisin on top of each olive. This will give him pretty eyes so that way they are not dull and boring. Looking good Mr. Snowman!!

Okay I got tired of taking pictures and just skipped the rest. lol  Add his nose using shredded cheese and just make a small sideways triangle. Then add 6 raisins for his little mouth. Then 3 raisins for his buttons. For his scarf I didn't have anything on hand to make it bright and colorful so I used shredded cheese again. I just layed some around his neck and then broke 4 tiny pieces off and layed those under it like it was his little stringy scarf part. I added his top hat by using 3 square crackers and 3 round ritz crackers. I just added a little cream cheese in between each one so they would stick. Then I spread some extra crackers below him and added my note card that has the scripture on it.

I think the kids will get a kick out of it. What do you think?
